From Grant Funding
to Granted Patent

Smart Charj has been developed with public research funding and private investment, validated with three UK universities and is patent protected. Prototypes are targeted for Q3 2027, subject to funding.

  1. 2020 ERDF funding European Regional Development Fund backing for early R&D.
  2. 2022 Proof of concept First working demonstration of the energy management system.
  3. 2023 Academic validation White papers produced with Lancaster University.
  4. 2024 Pre-seed funding £500,000 raised. SEIS/EIS approved.
  5. 2025 Earthshot Prize nominee Nominated for The Earthshot Prize 2025.
  6. May 2026 UK patent granted GB2636808B. International patents pending.
